I want to throw a surprise birthday party for my husband in June and discovered that Landmark Theatres rent out to people with game systems, including catering. I filled out the reservation form online weeks ago and have heard nothing back. Does anyone have any clue what this would cost for about 15-20 people? Thank you!

Santa Cruz Landmark Buildings

Seb Frey asked:

The presence of Santa Cruz landmark buildings is evident in most districts throughout the historical city. They tell of the city’s past and show a construction evolution that underwent many building eras and changes over time. The Mission Hill district contains around seventy-five buildings of historic interest, Old Riverview, Six Sisters, and the downtown area all have yielded some very interesting constructs over the course of time.

One building that exudes historical intrigue is Howden’s Castle, also referred to as Ben Lomond. The man who built the castle was a Scotsman by the name of Robert Howden who ran a tile plant in Oakland, CA. Howden had always missed the charming castles of his boyhood in Scotland. All stones used for the castle were selected and set by hand. Howden used his prior skills as a stone cutter to impress poetry and Scottish landscapes into the windows of the castle. It was built during the 1920’s and has expanded to a total of fifteen rooms. The castle is open for tours on holidays and weekends.

The Flatiron along Pacific Avenue and Front Street has served many purposes over the passage of time. It was constructed between 1859-60 by Hugo Hihn. Throughout its history the structure has been utilized as a courthouse, drugstore, and today as a Chinese restaurant on the top level and a bakery on the lower level. It has an odd pie-shaped construction and had to be reconstructed after the Loma Prieta quake of 1989 as did many other buildings.

Santa Cruz’s courthouse has relocated several times throughout its varied history. Since its inception in 1850 it has been located in five different constructs throughout the city. The first home to the courthouse was a hotel inside the Northern region of Santa Cruz. Next, a second building was bought by County officials, but the courthouse wasn’t there for too long. The famous Flatiron building was the third home to the courthouse. The fourth courthouse was constructed on land that was given as a gift in 1866. This construct was involved in a fire during 1894 and burnt completely down. The site still holds the present day fifth incarnation of the courthouse and the entrance still faces Cooper Street.

Thomas Fullon’s hotel and saddlery is another one of the Santa Cruz landmark buildings established in 1849. It is located within the Mission Hill District of Santa Cruz and has had multiple uses over the years. The construct served as a school, courthouse, and poorhouse in later years. The Mission Hill district developed from its central hub largely from the Gold Rush era. By the end of the Gold Rush the district had evolved into primarily a residential area.

Some Victorian beauties in the area that were once homes are now in full swing as bed and breakfast inns. The West Cliff Inn is a stately Victorian home renovated into a lovely bed and breakfast located on West Cliff Dr. in Santa Cruz. It is positioned near two beaches, Cowell’s Beach and the Santa Cruz Beach with Boardwalk. The era of the home turned inn is the Italianate Era. The house historically was built in 1877 and first owned by Sedgwick Lynch.

These are only a few of the Santa Cruz Landmark Buildings the town offers as part of its rich history. The town has evolved with time, yet it has taken care to renovate and reinvent many of its constructs of historical importance. The town continues to move forward while being careful not to forget its roots.

Famous Landmarks in Oklahoma City

October 8th, 2009
Shane Wauhob asked:

The famous landmarks in Oklahoma City offer a glimpse into the past of the city and also the state. Though most of these celebrate the achievements of the city and those of its former leaders and pioneering individuals, one of the landmarks is a sad reminder of the destructive effects of violence and is perhaps the most important – the Oklahoma City National Memorial.

Located at 620 North Harvey Avenue, the Oklahoma City National Memorial remembers those who lost their lives or their loved ones, as well as those who survived but whose lives were changed forever as a result of the April 19, 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building by Timothy McVeigh. Built on the site of the building, the memorial consists of various sculptural attractions such as the 168 empty chairs and the reflecting pool. The entrances are marked by two golden hued gates. The Survivor Tree that survived the blast is another feature of the memorial. A museum on the blast is also located at the memorial.

The Oklahoma State Capitol is another of the famous landmarks in Oklahoma City. Though it was originally constructed during the period 1914 - 1917, the dome was only added in the 21st century. The dome is one of the most attractive features of the Capitol. It’s an incredible experience to view the interior of the dome from inside the Capitol building, since it epitomizes beauty and aesthetic perfection. Enoch Kelly Haney’s American Indian statue is placed on the top of the dome.

The Oklahoma City University is included in the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the most prominent and famous landmarks in OKC. The architectural attractions of the university are the administration buildings and the Gothic memorial library. Admission to the National Memorial, State Capitol and the University is free.

The other famous landmarks in Oklahoma City include important historic mansions such as the Henry Overholser Mansion, religious structures, and more. Hotels in OKC offer shuttle services to all the important destinations.

Honing Your Management Skills With Landmark

October 7th, 2009
Claudia Mendez asked:

Are you a student of management course and aspire to be a management executive? To be successful in team management taking a management course is not enough. You should develop yourself in such a manner that you can manage all the people with whom you form the team. Developing your personality for managing a team is not an easy task. You will have to adopt some skills for that. When you are the leader of a team or when you are given the responsibility of a team then you will have to maximize the output of the team.

Asking the members of the team to increase their productivity will not let you increase their productivity. To increase their productivity, you need to have some skills. With your skills you will have to find out the problems that they have if they want to increase their production. Try to learn from them what they need to change to increase their productivity. There are several things that the team members might list to you. Do not get annoyed by the list. Check the list and try to handle the problems tactfully. Most of the problems that they would list are practical and it will be difficult for you to solve them. So, handle them tactfully and try to improve the productivity of the team in spite of such problems.

It is also often quite difficult to get the problems of your team members listed. Many of the team members may not be able to list the problems in a sheet of papers. Therefore, you should have a coaching session or an interaction session to know the problems of your team members and get them solved. When you have set a coaching session or an interactive session then you should ask questions to the team members. You need to be an excellent listener if you want to get into the mind of the team members. You should let the members of the team speak their mind. Ask them some intelligent questions which will make them speak their mind. Listen to their answers carefully and try to find out what you need. You should talk less as your main objective is to learn the problems of the team members.

There are several personal development and personal training courses which can help you develop yourself. If you want to learn the skills of team management then you can take any of these courses. As there are several institutions which offer the courses of personal training and personal development, you should check their reviews. Opt for the institution that has the best reputation in the market.

You can join the team management course offered by Landmark Education. Many people have gained benefits after completing the team management course of Landmark Education. The forum enjoys excellent reviews. They have unique training courses which will not only make you an expert of team management but also will help you develop your entire personality.
